The Joys of a single shot

I acquired a relatively simple firearm recently. It's an H&R 20 gauge single shot shotgun. It breaks open, and has an ejector. It is a permanent Modified Choke (the most useful choke in my opinion that there is) I've always seen these shotguns at stores like Wal-mart and Big 5. I thought that they weren't worth buying because the $100 price tag was so low I figured it wasn't worth the trouble. However I came across this specimen and have enjoyed using it while rabbit hunting this summer in the mountains of Arizona. Normally I have used a 22 or my Remington 870 and typically harvested a bunch of rabbits on each outing. I have made hunting rabbits much more challenging by using the single shot.
In Arizona we aren't allowed to road hunt, so the majority of the rabbits that I see while driving to my favorite areas aren't able to be harvested. So the challenge becomes locating them out in the brush and getting the gun mounted very quickly. I find that I have to walk with my gun upright and I am forced to always keep my hands on the gun's grip. Needless to say most of the rabbits get away. I'm not sure where they go, it must be a burrow because they'll dart into a prickly pear and disappear. I would highly recommend a single shot shotgun. 1) they're cheap, 2) they make your hunting more fun.
